The plot is centered around Shardul Thakur, a police officer concealing his sexuality, who finds himself in the unique position of working in a women’s police precinct located in Dehradun. On one eventful afternoon, a physical education teacher named Suman “Sumi” Singh from Wynberg Allen School approaches the station. Her intention is to lodge a complaint about a man who deceived her on a lesbian dating app and is now blackmailing her. In a series of events, Shardul learns of Sumi’s secret and later proposes a mutually beneficial solution: a marriage that would help them fend off societal pressures of marriage in their 30s. Sumi, despite her initial hesitations, agrees to the proposition.
Post their honeymoon, the duo creates a facade of a conventional married couple, while Sumi begins seeing Rimjhim, who had faced familial rejection due to her sexual orientation. When complications arise with Rimjhim moving in, they navigate tricky situations and lies. Meanwhile, Shardul finds love with Guru, a bold and openly queer lawyer. The story continues to depict their challenges, especially during a family visit during the festival of Diwali, leading to a series of misunderstandings and revelations about their true selves.
The climax brings the story one year forward, where Shardul and Sumi, amidst their personal challenges, sit for an adoption ritual in their residence. Rimjhim is recognized as a third parent, signaling an unconventional but loving family structure. The event witnesses many family members, with some significant ones being absent. The story wraps up with a heartwarming scene, emphasizing acceptance and love in its truest sense.
