Pathaan 2023 Movie Plot:
Pathaan is an action-packed thriller film set in India. Siddharth Anand is the director and Shridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala are the writers, it is the 4th installment in the YRF Spy Universe. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan, alongside Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, and Ashutosh Rana.
The story revolves around Pathaan, a former RAW agent who has been exiled. He teams up with Rubina Mohsin, an ISI agent, to stop Jim, a former RAW agent turned traitor. Jim has sinister plans to attack India driven by personal motives. Pathaan and Rubina must unite their skills and resources to bring him down and safeguard their country from the impending threat.
Produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films, the film went into production in November 2020 in Mumbai. It was filmed in various locations across India, Afghanistan, Spain, UAE, Turkey, Russia, Italy, and France. The movie features two songs composed by Vishal-Shekhar, while the score is provided by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara.
Pathaan was released in Indian theaters on January 25, 2023, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend. The film garnered positive reviews from critics, who praised its gripping action sequences, captivating music, and commendable performances by the cast. It broke numerous box office records, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in India and achieving remarkable success in international markets. Pathaan earned gross ₹1,050.3 crores (US$130 million) worldwide, this established it as the highest-grossing Indian film of th year 2023 and the 2nd-highest-grossing Hindi film ever.
The story begins with the Indian government revoking Article 370, triggering a chain of events. Qadir, a Pakistani army general suffering from cancer, seeks revenge against India and joins forces with Jim, the leader of a private terrorist organization called “Outfit X.” Simultaneously, Pathaan, together with his senior officer Nandini Grewal, forms the “Joint Operations and Covert Research” (JOCR) unit. They recruit retired RAW agents who are eager to continue serving their country.
Pathaan and his team head to Dubai to thwart Outfit X’s plan to attack the Indian President. However, they discover that the real objective is the kidnapping of two scientists. Jim, who is revealed to be a former RAW agent, manages to escape with one of the scientists, Dr. Sahani. At the agency, it is uncovered that Jim seeks revenge against RAW for failing to save his wife and unborn child. Pathaan learns about a codeword called “Raktbeej” and follows the trail to Spain, where he encounters Rubina, an ex-ISI agent entangled in a web of conspiracy.
Together, Pathaan and Rubina travel to Moscow on a mission to retrieve a dangerous smallpox virus known as Raktbeej. However, their plan takes an unexpected turn when Rubina betrays Pathaan, resulting in his capture by the Russian police. Eventually, Pathaan teams up with Avinash Singh “Tiger” Rathore, and they embark on a perilous journey to save their country from the impending danger.
The film delves into themes of patriotism, espionage, and personal vendettas, building up to an adrenaline-pumping climax. Pathaan’s unwavering determination and bravery lead him to confront Jim, engaging in intense battles and risking his life to protect India. Along the way, he discovers the true meaning of loyalty and the sacrifices made in the name of duty.
In the end, Pathaan is reinstituted as a RAW agent as well as appointed as the chief of the JOCR unit, while Nandini is honored for her bravery. The film concludes with Pathaan and Tiger contemplating retirement but ultimately deciding to continue fighting against future threats.
