Cirkus (2022) Movie Plot:

“Cirkus” is a film from 2022 that has a period comedy theme. This movie was directed by the well-known Rohit Shetty. It was primarily in the Hindi language. The production of this film was a joint effort, with both Rohit Shetty Productionz and T-Series putting their resources behind it.

The stars of the movie include prominent actors like Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma. The unique thing here is that both these actors took on two roles each in the film. They were ably supported by a team of talented actors and actresses like Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johny Lever, and Sanjay Mishra.

The central theme or storyline of the movie centers on two pairs of twins. What’s unique about these twins is that they were separated just after they were born. As they grow up and go about their lives, they accidentally meet each other when they become adults.

Now, if you look at the broader context, “Cirkus” isn’t just a standalone film. It’s actually the fifth movie in the popular series known as the Golmaal franchise. This film takes cues from another film in the series, the 2017 movie called “Golmaal Again”. But “Cirkus” also pays homage to a much older movie, the 1982 film “Angoor”. And that film, “Angoor”, actually got its story from a play by Shakespeare called “The Comedy of Errors”. The film’s shots were captured in various places, with Mumbai and Ooty being the primary locations. The film’s shooting began in the latter part of 2020, specifically in November.

The film was released for everyone to see on the 23rd of December in 2022. Despite the anticipation, the reactions were not very positive. Many people, especially critics, didn’t have good things to say about it. This criticism also reflected in how the film did in terms of making money, where it didn’t perform well.

Storyline in Brief:

The film takes you back in time to the year 1944. During this time, Dr. Roy Jamnadas comes across two pairs of twins, who are identical, at his orphanage. Dr. Roy gets an idea for an experiment. He separates these twins and sends each pair to grow up in different cities. These twins were named Roy and Joy. As they grow up, they find that their lives are very different. While one set of twins is a part of the circus world, the other set is living a life of luxury.

Thirty years go by, and the story brings forward an interesting twist. One of the Roys, who performs at the circus, is known as ‘Electric Man’. Why? Because he doesn’t get hurt by electricity. But every time he comes in contact with electricity, the other Roy, who is rich, gets shocked. Their lives start to overlap and intersect, leading to many confusions and mix-ups. A lot of this confusion is around the women they are in love with. Add to this a situation involving a stolen necklace and some criminals, and the story gets even more tangled. But everything comes to a head at the circus. Here, all the misunderstandings get sorted out, and the truth about the twins is revealed. Everyone realizes what’s going on and there’s a happy reunion.

The story wraps up with a hint about what might come next in the series. This hint is given through the introduction of five orphan boys. This seems to set the stage for the events that take place in “Golmaal Again”.
